The Hickman County Jail (Detention Center) opened in 2000. It consists of a secure jail and restricted custody center. The secure jail houses 37 pretrial detainees and medium custody inmates. The restricted custody center houses 56 community and minimum custody inmates that participate in the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Community Work Service program.

How do I send money to an inmate in the Hickman County Jail?

Money for the inmate to use to purchase items from the Jail Commissary may be left at the Jail lobby window Monday through Friday during office hours (8 AM – 4 PM). All money MUST BE in the form of cash or money order. Money orders may be mailed to the inmate as well.

Money MUST be received by 12:00 pm on Monday so that they can be posted to the inmates account and be available for them to order items from the weekly commissary.

How do I visit an inmate in the Hickman County Jail?

Hickman County Jail Classified State Inmates

All CLASSIFIED LEVEL 1, 2, and 3 state inmates shall receive up to 4 (four) hours of visit time per month. The visit may be taken as follows: four (4) one hour visits or two (2) two hour visits.

  • Visitors must call the jail at 270-653-9933 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday to schedule a visit. Visits must be scheduled at least one week in advance.
  • When calling, visitors must indicate how long the visit will last and the adult names of those coming to visit.
  • If a visit is cancelled or your visitors fail to come, your visit is forfeited for the length of the visit that was scheduled.
  • Those visiting must provide names, social security numbers, and dates of births.
  • Anyone on parole or supervised probation will not be allowed to visit. If attempted, the probation and parole officer will be notified and a request for a violation will be made.
  • Visitors that are convicted felons and not on parole or supervised probation will only be allowed to visit in the visitation booths with safety glass separating the inmate and visitor.
  • No visitor who has a history of promoting contraband or any other institution crime convictions or charges may have contact visits.
  • No visitor who has been jailed or incarcerated at the Hickman County Jail within the last two years may have contact visits with inmates unless authorized by Jailer.
  • Visits will be allowed a maximum of two adults and three children age 12 and under.
  • If a visitor leaves the visitation room, that visitor will not be allowed to re-enter.
  • All adult visitors MUST have government issued picture identification each time they visit or they will not be allowed in the facility.
  • All visitors will be required to leave purses, bags, pocket items, etc. in their vehicles.
  • Visitors may not bring in any food, drinks, tobacco products, etc into the facility.
  • Female visitors wearing skirts, dresses, and shorts that are above the knee will not be allowed to enter the facility. Female visitors wearing shirts showing any portion of the breasts or midriff will not be allowed in the facility.
  • Visitors and inmates shall sit across from the table from each other with hands on top of the table.
  • All inmates will be subject to a strip search after each visit.
  • All visitors when entering the facility waive their rights to search and seizure.
  • The Hickman County Jail reserves the right to cancel and reschedule visits due to security risks and/or other scheduling conflicts.
  • The Hickman County Jail reserves the right to change the rules of visitation at any time it deems appropriate.

Hickman County Jail County Inmates/Controlled Intake State Inmates/All others
Inmates shall have 30 minutes per week of visitation in the secure visitation booth. These visits shall be scheduled by calling the front office at 270-653-9933

  • Visitors shall be limited to three per appointment, however only one visitor at a time can be in the booth. The visitors will be responsible for deciding how to divide the allotted time. If this cannot be agreed upon, the visit will be cancelled.
  • All visitors shall have a government issued I.D. (with the exception of minors)
  • All minors shall be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Disruptive children, along with their accompanying adult, may be asked to leave the booth, and possibly asked to leave the facility.
  • The jailer/designee may restrict a visitor if the visitor poses a threat to the facility or violates the rules and regulations.
  • Visitors who knowingly introduce contraband into the facility will be prosecuted.
  • Visitors violating any visitation rule will be subject to termination of the visit, and will be asked to leave the building and visitation restrictions will be imposed.
  • The Hickman County Jail reserves the right to change the rules of visitation at any time it deems appropriate.

Hickman County Jail Bond Information

All bonds should be made at the Clerk’s office Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

After hours and on weekends bonds can be made at the Detention Center at the lobby window.

Personal Recognizance (ROR) – Your personal recognizance, provided that you promise to appear at all scheduled hearings, trials, or otherwise as required by the Court.

Unsecured Bond or Surety Bond – An unsecured appearance bond from you or your surety to be forfeited should you fail to appear as required by the Court. Surety’s must be a KY resident with a valid Drivers License or KY ID, be at least 18 years of age, employed, have no pending/convicted felony charges, and cannot be the Defendant/Co-Defendant in the case.

Partially Secured Bond – Cash bail secured by cash deposit of 10% of the deposit (but no less than $5) will be retained if you are found guilty and the court determines you have performed the conditions of your release. The entire cash bond will be forfeited should you fail to appear as requested by the court.

All payments of bonds must be in cash with exact change. Bonds over $10,000.00 cash or above and Property Bonds will have to be made in the Circuit/County Clerk’s office depending on case.

Weekenders – Anyone sentenced to serve weekends must pay all fees in full at time of booking. Pending on days sentenced will apply to fees.

Circuit Work Release – Fees will be paid weekly with no exceptions.

District Work Release – Fees will be paid weekly with no exceptions.

ALL bonds will be subject to a additional $25.00 non-refundable bond fee. Also ALL bonds that are executed by the jail will be subject to an additional $5.00 jail fee.

Hickman County Court Dates

  • Hickman District Court is in session on Mondays and the fourth Thursday of each month at 9:00 am with the exception of court holidays.
  • Hickman Circuit Court motion hour is held on the first and third Thursday each month at 9:30 am.
  • Hickman Drug Court is held each Friday at 8:00 am.
  • Carlisle District Court is in session on Wednesdays at 9:00 am.
  • Carlisle Circuit Court motion hour is held on the first and third Thursday each month at 1:30 pm.
