The Pulaski County Jail (Regional Detention Facility) opened in 1994 and is the largest county detention facility in Arkansas, housing more than 1,000 detainees daily. We hold a unique place in the criminal justice system here in Pulaski County. Pulaski County Jail supports twelve law enforcement agencies and thirty-three state and local courts. It is a facility that utilizes the “Direct Supervision” concept of inmate management, which allows us to maintain security and order in a cost effective manner. Running a facility of this size requires multiple divisions and sections specializing in the various aspects of maintaining a constitutionally sound operation.
Completed in 1993, the 556-bed expansion more than doubled the size of the original 400-bed facility. Pulaski County Detention Facility was one of the first institutions in the State to utilize these locks.
