All persons who are arrested within Jackson County and taken into custodyThe condition of being in the care of the police, Corrective Services or Juvenile Justice as opposed being at liberty in the community. are transported to the Jackson County Jail and Detention Center for booking and incarceration. The Detention Center consists of two 10 bed housing areas for male inmates and one 3 bed housing area for female inmates. There are also three isolation cells, a drunk tank, and a suicide watch cell. The Detention Center houses both pre-trial detainees and post-conviction inmates who are serving sentences or awaiting transport to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
The Detention Center has a nurse practitioner, who comes to the jail to address inmate medical needs. In addition, there is a full kitchen where all meals are prepared for inmates.
